Terms
Last updated 3 October 2026 (trial and paid plans added) · closetheloupe.com
Loupe is early software. It works, it is used daily, and it will sometimes
get things wrong. These terms say what you can expect and what you cannot.
What Loupe is
A desktop application and browser extension that reads your open tabs,
works out what you meant to do with them, and writes documents into your
own Google Drive. It can draft messages and set reminders.
What you are agreeing to
- You are at least 18, or old enough to enter a contract where you live.
- The Google account you connect is yours to connect. If it belongs to an
employer, that you are permitted to use it this way.
- You will not use Loupe to collect or process other people's information
without their knowledge.
What Loupe will not do
Nothing is sent to anyone without you approving it first. Messages
are written as drafts and wait for you. This is not a setting; it is how
the software is built, and every outbound action runs through a single
approval check.
Loupe requests drive.file access only, which cannot read anything in
your Drive that Loupe did not create.
What it will get wrong
Loupe decides what a page was for by reading it, and it will misjudge.
It will file things in the wrong document, summarise something clumsily,
and occasionally ignore a page you cared about. Every one of those is
correctable, and corrections teach it.
Do not rely on Loupe as your only record of anything that matters. It
writes into your Drive, which you control and can back up; treat what it
produces as a helpful copy, not a system of record.
Your content
Yours. Loupe claims no ownership of anything it reads or writes for you.
The documents are created in your Drive under your account, and remain
ordinary Google Docs you can edit, share, export or delete - including if
you stop using Loupe entirely.
Trial and paid plans
The trial. Every account gets the whole of Loupe free for 14 days
from the first time it signs in. No card is needed to start, and nothing is
charged when the trial ends.
When it ends. Loupe keeps recording the pages you visit on your own
computer, but stops filing them, summarising them, finishing projects and
answering the bubble - nothing is sent to a model. Your documents stay in
your Drive. If you upgrade later, the pages it kept are filed then.
Pro. $18 a month, or $180 a year, plus any tax your location
requires, shown before you pay. Payment is handled by Stripe; Loupe never
sees your card.
Renewal and cancelling. Pro renews automatically each month or year
until you cancel. Cancel any time from the link in your Stripe receipt, or
by writing to lets@closetheloupe.com.
Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period
you have paid for, and then your account works as it does after a trial.
Refunds. If something has gone wrong, write to us and we will put it
right - including a refund where that is fair, and always where the law
where you live requires one.
Price changes. A new price applies only from your next renewal, and
we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it does.
Availability
Loupe is provided as it is, with no guarantee of uptime and no guarantee
that a given feature will keep working. It depends on Google and Anthropic,
and on services that may change or become unavailable.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Loupe is not liable for indirect or
consequential loss - including lost work, lost time, or a message sent or
not sent. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or
fraud, which cannot be limited.
Ending it
Stop whenever you like: remove the extension, delete the application, and
revoke Loupe's access at
your Google permissions
page. Your documents stay in your Drive.
We may suspend access for use that breaks these terms or endangers other
people.
Changes
If these terms change materially, the change will be dated here rather
than swapped in quietly.
